since i can't upload photo AND video...

...here is the video to La Ritournelle.
Viola

Yup, he's a rockstar

Since everything that is French i pretty much love (yes including all the ridiculous tracksuit people), one of my friends kindly suggested to listen to this parsienne musician, Sebastien Tellier.
They call him the "new Gainsbourg" (see movie suggestion further down)- he just looks like a grungy old drug addicted musician- we love that kind, they can only produce the good stuff really.
So his first debut album L'incroyable Vérité was pretty big in France,
so he went on tour with no other than AIR. Tellier's next Album was released in 2005 Politics and Sophia Coppola decided to use some of his songs for Lost in Transaltion, oh why not.
My favorite song of his Politics album is La Ritournelle,
i posted ABOVE. The love above.
His latest album Universe was produced by Daft Punk and released 2006.

Allez, ecoutez!

p.s. He even was a finalist in the Eurovision Song contest 2008...i'm glad he didn't win.

BLU

BIG BANG BIG BOOM - the new wall-painted animation by BLU from blu on Vimeo.

The Past can be cool in the future?

To The sign we sang, to It's a beautiful life we danced, to The Juvenile we cried. So guess whos bringing out a new Album in October? No one else than swedish 90's pop band Ace of Base.

So i thought, okay, i love the 90's, including all the ridicoulus trends and music that i eagerly followed, but i think what makes the 90's so awesome, is that it was back then, not NOW. History is repeating itself just a wee bit too fast.
ANYWAY, so i thought i'd listen to some songs of the album, without prejudices and all, and to be honest, i should've really known when i read the title "Let it play it on the radio (bla bla bla)". It's just...shit. It's not 90's, it's not today,
it's just trying to be a little better than in the 90s but just not working for me, sorry alligator.

Sometimes it's just for the best if you keep things as they were, not trying to re-live the past. But maybe they needed the money?

Anyway, listen for yourself.

Stendhal Syndrom

Stendhal Syndrom is a psychosomatic illness that causes
rapidence of heart beat, rising body heat,
cofusion even hallucination when individual is exposed to art.

Without sounding weird, that was exactly how i felt when i went to see the exhibition of my life in Basel of Jean-Michel Baquiat.
During my uni years he was my main inspiration, i was always so facinated by this guys story and especially his creative mind.
Basquiat started as a Graffiti Writer named Samos (his icon was a crown), always leaving political statements around the walls of New York.
After Andy Warhol took him under his wing in 1982, Basquiat's style later transformed into more abstract, painterly pieces that he painted onto canvas and found objects.
Throughout, Basquiat kept his style intense, energetic, unique and iconic. Aesthetically beautiful.
Art wasn't his only creative output, he also played in a Jazzband and acted.

I guess the downside of Basquiat's rapid success, led to his over drug use, when sadly in 1988
the artworld lost one of its best artists at the young age of only 27.

p.s. if you're interessted, watch this movie about him Basquiat, David Bowie plays
Andy Warhol and does an awesome job
p.p.s. sorry about the shit photo quality, but i only had my phone and had to take secret photos

The Suburbs- The Arcade Fire

Our favorite Canadian Indie-rock-folk Band has released their new album, FINALLY!

There was this one time in my Life where i was living in this awesome flat where FUNERAL and Neon Bible
were the Soundtracks to our Life back then and the flat Tamburine was in full use.

Maybe that is why i had quite high expectations on this one- maybe i just have to listen to it more often...?! But The Suburbs ss still ridicously great- go listen to it

Shortfilm: Family Business

The Wackness

THIS, dearest Ladies and Gentlemen,
might just be the best movie i have seen this year.

1. It's funny- a bit odd and a bit of a nostalgic reverie.
2. The soundtrack is awesome (Tribe called Quest, Notorious BIG, Nas, Wu-Tang, Weezer etc).
3. It was made in 2008, but plays in 1994 ( bring back the 90s yes please).
4. It won the award for Audience Choice at the Sundance Film Festival.
5. Shapiro is probarbly the awesomest name i have heared.

If these 5 reasons ain't enough- go watch Titanic.
